Ghana's score on the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) remained almost stable, losing 1 percent point in 2015. While Ghana scored 48 out of 100 in 2014, the score slided back to 47 in the 2015 report. Nevertheless Ghana's rank improved to 56 out of 168 from 61 from 175 because of the poor performance of other countries. Ghana is know ranked the 7th least corrupt country in Africa as against the 8th position in 2014. The report positively mentions the activities of citizen activists in Ghana which are "sending a strong message that should encourage others".

The banking sector has always been a main driver of trading activity on the Ghana Stock Exchange and last year was no exception in that. 68% of all deals on the GSE focused on the financial sector. One of the reasons for that might be the stellar performance of Ghanaian banks. Contrary to the current profit declines in many sectors, the banking stocks performed very well last year: Besides Standard Chartered all banking groups recorded a double-digit profit growth.
