AngloGold Ashanti Limited is an international gold mining holding company headquartered in South Africa. It was formed on 26th April, 2004 through a merger between the Ghanaian company Ashanti Goldfields and the South Africa-based AngloGold, and was listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange the following day. The company is also listed on the Johannesburg, London, New York and Australian stock exchanges, as well as the pan-European Euronext exchange.
The group has 20 gold mining operations spread over 10 different countries on the North American, South American, African and Australian continents. Its Ghanaian operations include the Ashanti gold mine near Obuasi, which harbours one of the biggest gold reserves in the world.
In 2014 AngloGold Ashanti announced its delisting from the London Stock Exchange due to lack of liquidity.
