Ghana Oil Company Limited is engaged in the business of marketing and distributing petroleum products and related products on the Ghanaian market. GOIL was incorporated as a private limited liability company on June 14, 1960. On 1st August 2007, the company was converted into a public company when a shareholders’ resolution was passed and was subsequently listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange on November 16, 2007. The biggest shareholder is the Government of Ghana which owns 51% of the shares.
GOIL has the largest retail network across the country with over 160 outlets countrywide.
Its product portfolio includes lubricants, bitumen, fuels and LP Gas. In addition to its regular filling and service stations, there are also a number of other retail outlets established to market the company’s products to rural areas.
GOIL is also active in the bunkering service and, since 2011, in the aviation fuelling service, which it continues to expand.
In 2012 the company launched a well-received rebranding exercise to enhance its brand identity.
