Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited manufactures, sells and deals in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The company was incorporated as a business in 1960 and was listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange on the 23rd August 1991. It is a subsidiary of the British beverages company Diageo Plc. The company’s primary depot is in Kumasi with stores across the country, particularly in the south.
It is a market leader in the Ghanaian brewery industry. Its product range includes various beer brands, Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, Guinness Stout and Star Beer amongst others, and spirits such as Baileys, Gilbey's Dry Gin and Smirnoff Vodka. GGBL also offers various soft drinks, including Malta Guinness, Amstel Malta and Alvaro.
In December 2012, GGBL introduced the first ever cassava beer, branded as Ruut Extra Beer, which was a purely home-grown innovation. The product is made from locally procured raw materials.
Additionally, in September 2013 a new vodka mix drink was launched under the name Smirnoff Double Black Ice, complementing the existing Smirnoff Ice mix drink.
