SIC Insurance Company Limited is a Ghanaian insurance company. It was incorporated in 1962 as State Insurance Company and converted into a public company in 1995. On 25th January 2008 it was listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange. The government of Ghana is the biggest shareholder, having a stake of 40%. SIC is the market leader in the non-life insurance sector in Ghana with an estimated market share of over 25%. The company is rated AA, the highest rated in Ghana, by the Global Credit Rating Company of South Africa. The company provides all types of insurance including Fire, Motor, Marine, Aviation, General Accident and policies for the hospitality industry. SIC Insurance’s plans to expand into the Liberian and Sierra Leonean market were put on hold due to the Ebola outbreak in these countries.
